Force Organization Chart - Bryss' Response Part 2

Image
Article by Master Bryss This article is a response to Force Organisation Chart- The Theme Killer. Here I will explore an alternate method of building an army.
Previously on Bryss’ Messing About With 40k, I introduced the “Sandbox” method of army building, which allowed more theme based armies, but still left room for flexibility. Today I will show you the “Fixed Theme” method, which is restrictive, but gives more power to the units you can have.
For each method I will use Space Marines as an example. Note that these methods may work better for some Codices more than others. I will make up 3 themes for now, if this actually works I will make more in future.
“Fixed Theme” Army- Space Marine Battle Company
In your army you must include a HQ choice and at least two Scoring Units. Armies may include: ·1-3 HQ units ·0-4 Elites ·0-8 Troops ·0-4 Fast Attack ·0-4 Heavy Support
A Battle Company has access to the following units: ·Captain (may not take Terminator armour) ·

This article is a response to Force Organisation Chart- The Theme Killer. Here I will explore an alternate method of building an army.
I will present to you two different means of creating an army over a period of time. The first one, the ‘Sandbox’ method, is based on my original comments on the article. The second, the ‘Fixed Theme’ method, is an alternate option designed as a second option to using the Sandbox (so both would be in the same Codex). First off, the Sandbox.
For each method I will use Space Marines as an example. Note that these methods may work better for some Codices more than others.

Major Mortensen

Picture is the property of Black Library Rules by Atrotos

Major Mortensen's crude mannerisms and callous disregard for authority have earned him no friends and attracted dangerous enemies. The Major is a hard man tortured daily by the memory of his homeworld's destruction and the fiery aftermath that flensed the skin from his body. He has all but forgotten what it means to be human incapable as he is of feeling pain or pleasure through his ruined nerves. Bereft of all natural comforts he has nothing to lose - a factor that plays a singular role in his fighting style and strategies.

You may replace one Storm Trooper Sergeant in your army with Major Mortensen at + 100 pts.
